1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how PawScan ("we," "our," or "the App"), developed by Junsung Park (junsoft), handles information when you use the PawScan - AI Pet Health Tracker application (Bundle ID: com.junsoft.PawScan).

We are committed to protecting your privacy. PawScan is designed with a privacy-first architecture: all data is stored locally on your device, and we do not operate any backend servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Pet Photos

You may take or select photos of your pet for AI-powered health analysis. These photos are:

• Stored locally on your device using SwiftData
• Sent to OpenAI's Vision API only when you explicitly request an AI analysis
• Never uploaded to our servers (we do not operate any)

2.2 Pet Health Records

You may enter and track health information about your pet, including symptoms, weight, medications, and veterinary visit notes. All health records are:

• Stored exclusively on your device using SwiftData
• Never transmitted to any external server by PawScan

2.3 OpenAI API Key

To use the AI analysis features, you provide your own OpenAI API key. This key is:

• Stored locally on your device
• Used solely to authenticate requests to the OpenAI API on your behalf
• Never sent to our servers or any third party other than OpenAI

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, address)
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Usage analytics or tracking data
• Any data from other apps on your device

3. How We Use Information

The information stored by PawScan is used solely for:

• AI Health Analysis: Pet photos are sent to OpenAI's Vision API to provide AI-generated health observations when you request an analysis.
• Health Tracking: Your pet's health records are displayed within the app to help you monitor your pet's well-being over time.
• API Authentication: Your OpenAI API key is used to authenticate requests to the OpenAI API.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 OpenAI

When you initiate an AI analysis, your pet's photo and relevant context are sent to OpenAI's Vision API. This transmission occurs directly from your device to OpenAI's servers.

OpenAI's use of data is governed by their own privacy policy and API data usage policies. We encourage you to review:

4.2 Apple (App Store & StoreKit)

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit 2. Apple handles all payment information. We do not receive or store your payment details. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

5. Data Storage and Security

All app data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not maintain any cloud storage, databases, or servers.

• On-Device Only: Your pet photos, health records, and API key remain on your device.
• No Cloud Backup by PawScan: We do not back up your data to any cloud service. However, your device's own backup mechanisms (e.g., iCloud Backup) may include app data as part of a full device backup, subject to your device settings.
• Encryption: Data stored on your device benefits from the hardware encryption provided by iOS.

6. Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

• Access: All your data is visible within the app at any time.
• Deletion: You can delete individual pet records, health entries, or photos within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all associated data from your device.
• Data Portability: You may export your data from within the app when export features are available.
• API Key Removal: You can remove or change your OpenAI API key at any time within the app settings.

7. Children's Privacy

PawScan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all data remains on-device and we collect no personal data, there is no server-side data from any user, including children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will assist you with any concerns.

8. International Users

PawScan does not transfer your data to any servers. When you use the AI analysis feature, your pet photo is sent directly from your device to OpenAI's servers, which may be located in the United States. This transfer is initiated by you and governed by OpenAI's privacy policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
